The Boeing Model 75 is a two place tail-dragger built in the 1930’s and 1940’s which was used by the Army Air Corps, the USAF, and USN as a basic trainer. Best known by the name “Stearman,” the trainer was used extensively at Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona as a trainer for pilots training for fighter duty in WWII.
This photograph was taken at the Case Grande Fly In at the Case Grande Municipal Airport in Arizona. Recognizable by its large radial engine, bi-wing design, and lumbering stance, the Stearman still sees use on the air show circuit flying with the Red Baron’s Pizza Squad, and is a popular sport plane for aviation enthusiasts.
