MY SHADOW

I was fortunate enough to have parents that both love and respect the beauty God has bestowed on this earth. My grandparents lived in Montana and every summer my family made the 1200 mile trek north from Phoenix to Laurel in my Dad’s ’68 Ford Pick-up-truck to visit them. I spent many hours of my childhood with my head held out the side camper window of that old truck, while taking in the beautiful landscapes of the Western United States. I look back at these experiences as the “building blocks” of my passion and appreciation for this great land we live in. I also credit these trips for giving me the ambition to capture scenes on film. Seeing the vast vistas and towering mountain ranges, the rolling hills, the sweeping plains and farming lands that the highways roll through. Watching the sun dance off of the rolling rivers that such highways follow as well as the lakes that gather their waters. Experiencing the Painted Desert in Arizona, the carved canyons of Lake Powell, the orange sands of Pink Coral Sands, the sand stone karsts in Bryce Canyon, the towering peaks of the Grand Tetons, plumes of steam in Yellowstone, and the final descent down a glacial valley on the Cook City Highway into Montana have been emblazoned on my mind as some of life’s finest hours.

FILMS & FORMATS

I have used a variety of formats and films to capture my imagery over the years including the following: Olympus OM-1 35mm film camera, several Canon 35mm film cameras, Mamiya 7II 6X7 Centimeter film camera, 4X5 inch Large Format Film camera, and several Canon digital SLRs. My favorite films include Fuji Velvia and Sensia transparency films, Ilford HP4 and HP5 black and white films.
