The Beechcraft Model 18, also known as the “Twin Beech” was used primarily in military service before, during, and after WWII. In addition to its military service and carrying passengers the aircraft’s uses have included aerial spraying, sterile insect release, fish seeding, dry ice cloud seeding, aerial firefighting, airborne mail pick up and drop, ambulance service, numerous movie productions, skydiving, freight, gun- and drug-smuggling, engine test bed, skywriting and banner towing. Many are now in private hands as prized collectibles. For more info on the Twin Beech see Wikipedia’s Beechcraft 18) page.
